If you ever read the column "Its Your Call" in the Bridge Bulletin that ACBL puts out, a lot of times I see the experts saying a bid is obviously something that I don't find very obvious. Can't think of any offhand, but I'll look back and post something.

There are so many different auctions, it is very hard to learn all the agreements that experts consider "standard". That may be confusing or frustrating but there is also a nice side: you will always continue to learn.

Once you have a solid basis though you can play with almost anybody without having to discuss much.

Thanks for visiting David. Yeah, I find that things get real confusing on the less frequent nt auctions. With a regular p, you can prepare, but with a pick up p I guess it's guess your best and hope?

Your second one is wrong. With balanced 15-18 you'd bid 1NT immediately.

A double followed by the cheapest NT bid shows a stronger hand than that(assuming partner has not shown any strength).
